PlayWorks Therapy is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal and personal health information. This Privacy Policy describes how information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of British Columbia, professional standards, and the requirements of the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC).

PlayWorks Therapy collects personal and personal health information that is reasonably required to provide occupational therapy services and to operate the practice. Information may be collected when individuals:

• Contact PlayWorks Therapy by phone, email, or through the website
   

• Complete intake, consent, assessment, or service-related forms
   

• Book or manage appointments using our online booking system
   

Information collected may include names, contact information, appointment details, and relevant health or developmental information necessary for service delivery.

 

2. Use of Personal Information

Personal and personal health information is used only for purposes consistent with providing occupational therapy services and operating a regulated health practice, including:

PlayWorks Therapy collects, uses, and discloses personal and personal health information in accordance with consent provided and as permitted or required by law.

Information may be shared with other health care professionals involved in an individual’s care when appropriate consent has been obtained. Personal and personal health information is treated as confidential and is not disclosed to third parties without consent, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

 

4. Online Booking and Third-Party Services

PlayWorks Therapy uses JaneApp, a secure, web-based practice management and online booking system, to support appointment scheduling, record keeping, and practice administration.

Personal information entered into JaneApp is stored and managed in accordance with JaneApp’s privacy and security practices. JaneApp is selected with consideration for privacy, confidentiality, and security requirements applicable to health care providers. Individuals are encouraged to review JaneApp’s privacy policy for additional information.

 

5. Safeguarding Personal Information

PlayWorks Therapy uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal and personal health information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or loss. Safeguards may include secure electronic systems, password protection, and limiting access to authorized personnel only.

 

6. Access and Correction

​

Individuals have the right to request access to their personal information and to request corrections if information is inaccurate or incomplete, subject to applicable legal and professional requirements under PIPA.

 

7. Retention of Information

​

Personal and personal health information is retained only for the period required to meet professional standards, legal obligations, and regulatory record-keeping requirements.
